Yes, found that myself, it doesn't like my rather old ATA controller. If this is a firewall, you can always try another BSD distro. You won't get all the nifty ata features, but you shouldn't need it on that old of a box. My old machine is very happy with OpenBSD right now. I wish there was a way to get the old wd driver back for clunky old boxes. For now, why not file a PR?
