            Bug ID: 273885
Summary: Accessibility: review use of italicised green
                    monospace in manual pages
           Product: Documentation
           Version: Latest
          Hardware: Any
                OS: Any
            Status: New
          Keywords: accessibility
          Severity: Affects Many People
          Priority: ---
         Component: Manual Pages
          Assignee: bugs@FreeBSD.org
          Reporter: grahamperrin@gmail.com
                CC: doc@FreeBSD.org

Today, at first sight,
<https://man.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=3Dauto-update-system&sektion=3D1=
&manpath=3Dfreebsd-ports>
appeared wrong.=20

First line (header of the manual content): the italicised green monospace
words, immediately adjacent to upright non-green numbers in parentheses.=20

Comparing with a recent capture from
<https://web.archive.org/web/*/https://man.freebsd.org/cgi/*>, I assume that
the change from upright black to italicised green, in headers and footers, =
is
fairly recent.=20

8th August 2023:
cgi?query=3Dtcp_bbr&apropos=3D0&sektion=3D0&manpath=3DFreeBSD+14.0-CURRENT&=
arch=3Ddefault&format=3Dhtml>
=E2=80=93 upright black.

manpath=3Dfreebsd-current for the same page, captured today:
.cgi?query=3Dtcp_bbr&sektion=3D4&manpath=3Dfreebsd-current>
=E2=80=93 italicised green.

Generally
=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D

Amongst the top five results for
<https://www.startpage.com/do/dsearch?query=3Daccessibility+monospace+itali=
c&cat=3Dweb>:=20

> italic text is often difficult to read with low vision,=20

I find
<https://man.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=3Dhier&sektion=3D7&manpath=3DFre=
eBSD+15.0-CURRENT#HISTORY>
particularly difficult, and so on.
