MMacD <scratch65535@att.net> has reassigned Bugzilla Automation <bugzilla@FreeBSD.org>'s request for maintainer-feedback to gnome@FreeBSD.o= rg: Bug 218750: devel/dbus: X11 fails to start because /etc/machine-id missing under 10.3 RELEASE 2017Q2 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D218750 --- Description --- Apparently, as of the current quarter, dbus wants to see a unique id in /etc/machine-id, a file that did not previously exist. I discovered that th= is morning when X failed to start because the file wasn't found. I created it= per documentation, and X started. The pkg upgrade process (or the dbus part) should create that file when not found, if it expects to see it. The id is apparently unconnected to anythi= ng else in the world, so if I can create it in an ad-hoc way, surely dbus itse= lf can.
