My intended goal was the proposed patch should be applied to the legacy i440fx VM and verify that all configurations and applications work as before. Then simply removing the HDD and attaching it to a non OVMF Q35 VM for quick and easy migration. I left a few commented code as I'm still not very familiar with FreeBSD's networking, more so for the netmap (ie whether to merge vtnet_netmap_free_bufs and vtnet_free_used).
