If you use ${PERL} you also have to set USE_PERL5=yes (see bsd.port.mk
line 586 and following). But using /usr/bin/perl is ok in this context.
It will be perl4 on 2.x.x machines and perl5 on [34].x.
BTW. there is a new version (1.3.3) available from
http://www.batse.msfc.nasa.gov/~mallozzi/home/software/xforms/src/.
Perhaps you wan't to have a look at it...
