On my system (installed gnome using pkg_add) gtk-config is called
gtk12-config.

Just do the following:

# cd /usr/X11R6/bin
# ln -s gtk12-config gtk-config

All gtk/gnome based apps look for gtk-config (it's a shell script) as
part of their configuration or makefiles.
