  Cvsup requires a Modula-3 runtime, which isn't available for ppc at 
this time. And may never be, I suspect it's not a simple task to get 
working.

  In the meantime, you might want to give csup a try:

   http://mu.org/~mux/csup.html

  It's been reported to work on FreeBSD/ppc.

  I think it should be /etc/make.conf, but I just checked and saw that 
it hasn't been copied there in the ppc release. However, it can be 
copied from /usr/share/examples/etc/make.conf.
