Yes, I believe we tried 2.x also... and experienced the same problem.   1.85 is integrated into the FreeBSD OS.  And it appears that only BSD systems suffer from this -- which is why I'm hoping a Core Member will help fix/resolve it.   

That or I'll be forced to take the system down and go to Solaris :)
