I tell people that if they "just want a Windows replacement", they should stick with Windows or use a Mac because they want better service from the computer without any growth in skills or responsibilities on their part. A core strength of the *nix operating systems and communities is the administrator/users' desire for control and acceptance of responsibilities that come with that control.
