There are 2 Handbook pages that conflict with each other in the ³Hardware
Notes² section

First: URL (Section 3.8 Sound Devices)
http://www.freebsd.org/releases/8.2R/hardware.html#SOUND

Second: URL
http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=snd_emu10kx&sektion=4&manpath=FreeB
SD+8.2-RELEASE

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------

On the Fist URL there is a section:
[The snd_emu10kx(4) driver DOES support the following sound cards (although
they have names similar to some supported ones):]

With the statement above it statest that the cards listed are supported
"driver DOES support"

    * Creative Sound Blaster Live! 24-Bit, identified by FreeBSD as
    * Creative Sound Blaster Audigy LS / ES, identified by FreeBSD as
    * All other Creative sound cards with -DAT chipsets.
    * All Creative X-Fi series sound cards.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------

However; when you click the link for snd_emu10kx(4)
BSD+8.2-RELEASE),

This takes you to the Second URL:

Which takes you to the SND_EMU10KX(4) man page

Under ŒHARDWARE¹ paragraph 2.

It states that "The snd_emu10kx driver DOES NOT support the following sound
cards"
And lists the same cards

+o Creative Sound Blaster Live! 24-Bit, identified by FreeBSD as
     "emu10k1x Soundblaster Live! 5.1".
+o Creative Sound Blaster Audigy LS / ES, identified by FreeBSD as
     "CA0106-DAT Audigy LS".
+o All other Creative sound cards with -DAT chipsets.
+o All Creative X-Fi series sound cards.

Thanks
