On a FreeBSD 2.2-STABLE server that mounts an NFS filesystem from a BSDI 2.1 machine, I'm seeing several .nsf* files showing up... ./king/mbpinc/.nfsA36bd4.4 ./king/rollread/newsletter/.nfsA259a4.4 ./king/newstone/.nfsA1bde4.4 ./king/dsd/temp/.nfsA3ba44.4 ./king/fetf/.nfsA60254.4 ./king/phdtop/.nfsA482d4.4 ./king/phdtop/.nfsB482d4.4 ./crash/jeffmj/exchange/gh/.nfsA32164.4 ./crash/jeffmj/cgi-bin/data/ChatRoomData/gh/.nfsA6d354.4 ./crash/jeffmj/cgi-bin/data/ChatRoomData/gh/.nfsA2dbd4.4 ./crash/jeffmj/cgi-bin/data/ChatRoomData/gh/.nfsA2f5a4.4 ./crash/jeffmj/cgi-bin/data/.nfsA6ed04.4 ./crash/jeffmj/cgi-bin/data/.nfsA31004.4 ...etc. The owner of the directory (and .nfs file) is NOT able to use "rm" to remove it, but root can. Is this indicative of an NFS client-side problem (misconfig) or something awry with the NFS server? --Morgan FreeBSD alfred.cts.com 2.2-STABLE FreeBSD 2.2-STABLE #0: Thu Oct 2 00:53:44 PDT 1997 mdavis@alfred.cts.com:/usr/src/sys/compile/ALFRED i386
