-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- G'day - Anybody running squid? It runs pretty well for me on (*cringe*) Linux, but I've had rotten luck with it so far on this platform. I've tried the port, and also rolled my own (which I prefer). It compiles and runs fine, but is awfully unreliable. Frequently loses its ability to resolve hostnames, for some reason, even when I can resolve them just fine at the command line. I'm currently running the latest version, compiled with internal DNS (no "dns_server" processes). This is a dialup network, and I use my ISP's nameservers all around (in resolv.conf and squid.conf). Tried running my own caching BIND, but that made it even worse, probably because I know even less about BIND than I do about the intricacies of squid. =) Not a big deal, I'm just experimenting, and wondering about the experiences of others. - -d - -- David Talkington Community Networking Initiative dtalk@prairienet.org 217-244-1962 PGP key: http://www.prairienet.org/~dtalk/dt000823.asc - ------------ Output from pgp ------------ Pretty Good Privacy(tm) Version 6.5.8 (c) 1999 Network Associates Inc.
