in looking at the ppp and slip documentation on the web server. some of the links are never shown are read, but rather always appear as unread. for example goto: http://www.freebsd.org/handbook/handbook144.html#284 at the bottom of the page, click on "PPP and SLIP" which takes you to: http://www.freebsd.org/handbook/handbook142.html click on "11.1.1.
