That's the fix, albeit an annoying one since recompiling XFree86 is a somewhat lengthy process. Funny though, on my first attempt Lin-Navigator appeared with no toolbars. After a second or third attempt though it was normal. No error messsages on stderr this time to report. Thanks for your prompt assistance.
