Hi Niall-- If you don't mind, why don't you send Nik the output of "pkg_version -v" on your system where you were able to generate a PDF Handbook? I've appended similar output from a machine where I *wasn't* able to do this. Maybe a comparison between the two (plus whatever Nik is running locally) might be useful. Note that I run openjade rather than jade that most people use, so that might be a factor too (but somehow I doubt this).
