FreeBSD can mount both ext2 and ext3 filesystems. The ext3 filesystem is essentially ext2 + journaling but FreeBSD sees it as ext2. You will need to add options EXT2FS to your kernel config file, rebuild, and reboot with the new kernel. Note that there is a warning in LINT about EXT2FS support. I would suggest reading it.
