We are seeing the same issues on Proliant 5500's and 6400's Under 4.8, the 5500 was rock solid with SMP. When we upgraded to 4.9 and later 4.10, we had crashes with SMP on. With SMP off it works fine under both 4.9 and 4.10. (See my earlier posts regarding this box) With the 6400's under 4.10 with SMP the disk subsystem appears to hang during any sort of heavy disk activity (we could consistently reproduce the problem running buildworld). We have not been able to reproduce this problem with SMP disabled. We also ran fine under 5.2.1 with SMP enabled. I guess our questions for the powers that be are: Is this issue being addressed, or going to be addressed, in the 4.x codebase? If we can get everything working under 5.2.1, can we count on that to be stable? That is, if we make one of these boxes a webserver, and assume it will always be just a webserver, and can get all of our webserver-like stuff working on it as 5.2.1, is it unlikely to explode in the near future when 5.2 is updated?
