Hi Arnout,

Unfortunately you cannot install FreeBSD in an extended partition. A FreeBSD
slice is equivalent to a primary (DOS) partition and that's what you'll need
to install it. Maybe you can use your Partition Magic to shrink the extended
partition and to create another primary partition.
