the last hack to rc.suspend to make power go really low on
my thinkpad t40p was

    # HACK HACK HACK
    /usr/X11R6/bin/xset -display :0 dpms force off
    sleep 3
    sysctl hw.acpi.video.lcd0.active=0
    sleep 1
    sysctl hw.acpi.cpu.throttle_state=1
    # KCAH KCAH KCAH

recently, i started getting

    sysctl: unknown oid 'hw.acpi.video.lcd0.active'

and

    # sysctl -a | egrep '(video|lcd)'
    #

any clues?
