Quite correct, and it's good to see list members helping each
other to keep on the straight and narrow. If you know enough
to answer a question, you know enough to (gently) help newcomers
to go to the right place, and the last thing you lot need is
people like me hanging over you with a big stick :-)

One thing this list has always been meant for, is to discuss
questions _about_ freebsd-questions (or other FreeBSD lists),
and difficulties accessing documentation and support in general.
In that way this list performs a valuable service to the FreeBSD
community without cluttering other lists.

Therefore, the question that was asked is quite appropriate.
We seem to have found a new user who reads the instructions
before acting. Watch this guy: he's going places fast!

The only place where someone might step wrong is if they
tried to answer the technical question, rather than the
search question. Very tempting, I know, but see below.
We have more problems with people _answering_ questions
here than people accidentally asking the wrong ones.

If you see a how-to/support question here that really needs
answering, all you have to do is change the header to point
to freebsd-questions. Simple :-)

Of course a cc: would go to the asker as usual, and -newbies
readers would see no answer unless we search the archives
or read -questions. That's how it's meant to be. We don't
mind a few mistakes here, but new users should not be enticed
to trust any answers that didn't come via freebsd-questions,
because of the active peer review that makes for pretty good
quality of support over there.

Quite correct, and thanks for helping out with the searching
tip that we can all benefit from. (I have trouble searching too.)
I'll include more URLs in the FAK.
