The removal program for the wavelan or orinoco card drivers blows goats. Theres a text file in the drivers which has some information about what files to search for to remove after you've tried to remove it. Only once you've gotten rid of _everything_ and rebooted does the new install have a chance of working, and then not always. Follow the instructions to the letter. The older wavelan IEEE cards can be upgraded to the same firmware as the "orinoco" cards, btw.
