Thanks for the input, do you know why Kmix doesn't run?  Shouldn't I be able
to run it even though the sound is not configured yet?

No, I didn't do ./MAKEDEV yet for snd0!  What is the difference between pnp0
and snd0 controllers?

Is there a command to test the sound from console?
