OK, I know what this is, but a more useful description would be useful.
Perhaps something like:  "Multiple threads could turn profiling on or off
at the same time. Keep track and do the right thing.".  Folks shouldn't need
to guess at the intent of this sort of thing or spend 15 minutes trying to
figure out what you're up to.
