I think the operative word here is 'can'.  Even Microsoft Outlook
*can* produce good output, but most people seem to have trouble with
it without even noticing the fact.  The longest line in this message
is currently 72 characters (the one with <g> in it).  If you have
Netscape Mail set the way you describe, when you reply it will wrap
this line incorrectly.  I don't know of any workaround for this bug.
