The Handbook Kernel Configuration section (which you can find in doc/en/handbook/kernelconfig/chapter.sgml) has a brief mention of the ATAPI option (www.freebsd.org/handbook/kernelconfig-config.html). Could you take a look at this, and possibly draft some new text for that section that explains what this will mean to the casual user as and when the switch is a) pulled and b) migrates over to either -stable or -release.
