You must have looked at a release dependant folder. They all seem to 
be in ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/packages/All/

Instead of a "make install", you do a "make package" and have a 
/usr/ports/packages/All directory and everything seems to be 
automagical after that.
