Please loose the HTML crap when posting to the list... >I mean, do drives get "substantially" hotter as the work load increases? Yes >Can anyone make any recommendations on drives? >Any particular brand/model (IDE) that seems to tolerate heat better than others? I have had good luck with all of the major brands - but I don't let them get real hot either. >Do 5400 RPM drives run cooler than 7200 or vice versa? Yes >Do 20 Gb H/D's run any cooler that 40 Gb's? We can use either) I do not think there is much difference >What else can we do to lessen the work load on these drives? >Create a ramdrive? (The motherboard that we have will support 3 Gb's of DDR ram) It would probably help >Any ideas, thoughts, input would be greatly appreciated..... The individual cooling fans for the drives work quite well for keeping the drives cool though the fans die fairly quickly.
