that happends with my two machines which install 4.7-stabel anew. for the first one, i simply copy those .eps from my old machine and remake again and there is no problem then .

now on my second, a newly 4.7-stable installed, machine, after cvsup the doc files, i start make agian with the same error. so that why i post here.

i hate to give up, so i simply , while waiting for your answer, start make once again with some prediction in mind. error ? no, very strange really, it works fine for the second make !

and what is device bit ?

may be that i need to look at some .conf of teTeX files as you suggest.
