Same here.  I updated yesterday, hoping to get it working, but
(unsurprisingly), it's still not showing up.

I wouldn't jump to conclusions just yet.  I don't think Soren has merged the
SATA burner code in to the tree:

It makes sense that it would be in the BIOS, and that you can boot from it.
But if the FreeBSD kernel doesn't know about SATA CD-ROM drives, it won't
find it.
