* Should have mentioned I did "sh MAKEDEV pty1" (which will make the * ttyq* devices) and it doesn't work either. I'm not sure if this is * because the kernel has only 32 pty's and all of them are taken by * ttyp*'s. Just to follow up on my own post, the following patch to xterm fixed it: ===== --- ./ptyx.h.org Mon Aug 15 12:48:46 1994 +++ ./ptyx.h Tue May 2 22:54:12 1995 @@ -91,7 +91,11 @@ #ifdef hpux #define PTYCHAR2 "fedcba9876543210" #else /* !hpux */ +#ifdef __FreeBSD__ +#define PTYCHAR2 "0123456789abcdefghijklmnopqrstuv" +#else /* !__FreeBSD__ */ #define PTYCHAR2 "0123456789abcdef" +#endif /* !__FreeBSD__ */ #endif /* !hpux */ #endif /* !PTYCHAR2 */ ===== Rich, can you please give this back to the XFree86 people?
