And I'd like to merge back the MPSAFE CAM work once it's had a little 
longer to mature and stabilize.  I can do the merge so that the API
doesn't change for non-MPSAFE SIMs, but there is no way to avoid an
ABI change for SIMs.  Luckily, this only affects kernel modules, not
userland apps.
