Such things are better handled in /etc/devfs.rules. Put the following ruleset in /etc/devfs.rules: [localrules=3D10] add path 'da*s*' mode 0660 group usb And activate the ruleset in /etc/rc.conf devfs_system_ruleset=3D"localrules" Of course, you can choose any ruleset label instead of "localrules".
