Ok, I've been seeing this thread grow for a while, so I feel I must inform you of my experience. I have 3 4.9 SNMP boxes, 2 of which are heavily loaded. The only problem I've ever had was the PAE bug, and no other problems. All 3 of my boxes have been up a long time, all running 4.9. Box 1: FreeBSD hostname 4.9-PRERELEASE FreeBSD 4.9-PRERELEASE #3: Sun Sep 14 11:30:31 CDT 2003 hostname:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/MERCSMP i386 6:55PM up 212 days, 18:17, 2 users, load averages: 1.68, 2.19, 2.42 This box is running an Intel board with dual PIII 1.4s. Box 2: FreeBSD hostname 4.9-RC FreeBSD 4.9-RC #10: Mon Dec 15 12:24:41 CST 2003 hostname:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/HALL i386 6:56PM up 90 days, 6:04, 1 user, load averages: 1.38, 1.33, 1.29 Running Dual PII 400MHz on Asus board. Box 3: FreeBSD hostname 4.9-STABLE FreeBSD 4.9-STABLE #5: Wed Jan 14 18:53:14 CST 2004 hostname:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/CACHE i386 12:59AM up 90 days, 6:05, 1 user, load averages: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00 Same specs as box 2. -Steve ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stephen Bader JORSM Internet, Regional Internet Services Systems Administrator 7 Area Codes in Chicagoland and NW Indiana steveb@jorsm.com 100Mbps+ Connectivity, 56K-DS3, V.90, ISDN (219) 322-2180 Quality Service, Affordable Prices http://www.jorsm.com Serving Gov, Biz, Indivds Since 1995 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- On Wed, 14 Apr 2004, Rick Updegrove wrote: > Kris Kennaway wrote: > > Thanks for not providing useful details :( > > Sorry Kris, > > I was never able locate any useful info about why this is happening on > my own, which is why I reverted back to 4.8 in the first place. > > What would you like, *exactly*?
