There are some paragraphs in our dear and noble FAQ, but this is a little bit old. sendmail has changed since those (very valuable) lines. And I had a problem some weeks ago with a new smarthost, that needed auth, IMHO a typical newbie problem, that should be adressed in a similar way. Something to copy and paste, to make the system usable without a postmaster exam. Best, H.
