If I understand you correctly, then I think you could do something like
this:
	bzero( nullmp->mnt_stat.f_mntfromname, MNAMELEN );
	copystr( realmp->mnt_stat.f_mntfromname,
	    nullmp->mnt_stat.f_mntfromname, MNAMELEN - 1, &size );

That would provide a fake mount-from value.
