hi,
iam trying to install freebsd for the second time.the first time, while
partitioning with fdisk i had deliberately left space for freebsd,so there
was no problem.now iam tring to install in an exsisting windows logical
drive in the extended partition.my drive geometry is(from fdisk)
primary:
c:- 2.5 GB

extended:
Total :-7.5 GB

logical
d:- 2.5 GB
e:- 2.5 GB
f:- 2.5 GB

so i shifted all the data from F: drive to D: and E: .Now i went to the dos
FDISK utility to free up the Logical partition F: using delete a logical dos
drive. When i viewed the partition information ,in the logical drives part F:
was not there. So i thought it has been freed.

Then i went on to installing freebsd, but when it asked for partitioning in
its fdisk like utility,i did not find the freed up space of F: drive.
its showing

(i think all the size it shows in cylinders or if its not assume whatever it
takes.iam sure of the sizes i have mentioned)

first line its showing something as free of 64 cylinders
ad0s1(i think the primary partition) fat somesize
ad0s2 extended somesize
the last line shows free space of 4275 cylinders

if it had shown the logical drives (in freebsd's fdisk utility )then i
would have Deleted the slice and Created for freebsd(is there any way to do
that). Now how do i go about.Shall i have to use some utility like FIPS and
how much is the risk of data getting lost.

any help will be highly appreciated
thanks
rohitash
