I have often wondered why people hate 'cross posting' so much - is there a

That was the first port I installed and it ran fine. Unfortunately, I had
not learnt some of the required tricks to stop rpm complaining about
architecture and dependencies and the list of dependencies became so complex
when I tried to install the gcc tools that I gave up and opted for a
different approach.

Well I am very new to both FreeBSD and these port makefiles but I'll have a
look. Maybe this is my first chance to contribute. Any tips for me (apart
from 'read the handbook').
