You're welcome.  For this problem, "make release" is strikes me as
using a sledgehammer to squash a fly, but it does have a certain cool
factor about it.  :)

You set up your FTP/NFS server on your 4.5 box to point at the
directory that contains the tarballs from make release, and point your
client at it.
