We have recently bought a Compaq ProLiant 800 200MHz PPRO and had a chance to try out the SMART-2/P controller with six 4.3GB wide-ultra 1" disks (H RAID5 and H RAID0 below) under 2.2-RELEASE using our locally developed driver (<URL:http://www.dcs.qmw.ac.uk/~md/ida>). Below is a comparison of the performance of the Compaq SMART-2/P controller with: the older Compaq SMART controller (M RAID5); a CCD of four legacy Wren-VII disks (I CCD); a logical disk of four older fast-narrow 1GB disks (I RAID5); a striped configuration of the six 4.3GB disks (H RAID0); and an internal 4.3GB wide scsi disk.
