This discussion probably occured before your PR.  It would be somewhere in
the mailing list archives.

You really should have done better research before forming any
expectations.  This subject has been discussed several times in the past
few years.  Expecting a positive reply from a single PR without bothering
to see what reasons were given for the negative side of the previous
discussions is silly.
