Just want to update that I have not be able to root cause this problem or get
rid of it.  I thought that I saw some correlation between some activity on the
system and increases in missing pages.  But I was never able to reproduce the
leak at will, so not sure if my observation was actually valid.

Just in case, it appeared to me that the leak was correlated with an
application written in Go.  I suspected that it used some compatibility system
calls (especially related to mmap) and there was a bug somewhere in the compat
code.
