Thanks for the info, although I wish I could send you a box, I don't have 
anywhere near the kind of auth to do that... ;)

We've played with vinum for a few months with no problems, is it reliable 
enough to take the abuse we are about to engage in?

Would CCD be a better bet?

Are there options I am not aware of.  Basically there are five of these 
guys as Database servers behind ten PowerApp web100 boxes, which in turn 
are behind a Load-balancing smart switch (CISCO content switch)...we know 
our main bottleneck is drive access so we wanted some sort of RAID or 
striping.
