Either you choose a vendor which offers FreeBSD support from their own = (e.g. HighPoint) or which is obviously supported by FreeBSD (3Ware). The = only "reliable" solution for everything else concerning ATA RAID is to = use the logical volume manager Vinum, see also vinum(8). If your hard disks don't even run as single drives and the controller = chip is not listed in ata(4) and there is no hint in = src/sys/dev/ata/ata-chipset.c then donate hardware to an ATA developer = or ask manufacturers for hardware specifications. Don't care too much about ATA RAID. If you don't find support at first = go, it will make you crazy. Best regards Bj=C3=B6rn
