"mixer" in the base system can control the volume. The "audio/amp" port is a command line MP3 player, which I use in conjunction with another command line program to play random tracks from a playlist etc. (This program is rather specific to my own needs, but if you want to look at it go to <http://www.scientia.demon.co.uk/users/ben/software/mp3play/> and send me the diffs to improve it.) The "play" program in the "audio/sox" port seems to be able to play WAV files. I've never had to record, so I can't help you with that, but the best (well, fastest) MP3 encoder I've found is the "audio/lame" port. -- Ben Smithurst / ben@scientia.demon.co.uk / PGP: 0x99392F7D To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
