I got my D-Link DWL-650 802.11b pccard working in FreeBSD 4.2, and then upgraded my system to 4.3 STABLE on 5 June. The card stopped working. The driver can't initialize, and worse, it renders the PCMCIA ports unusable by my wired Ethernet card until I power down the system (I haven't tried rebooting without powering down -- a reboot may be sufficient). I.E. once the wi driver has tried to attach, my other card cannot attach either. Looking at the wi driver change log, I guessed that the problem was introduced on April 22 when the attach method was changed, so I "downgraded" to RELENG_4_3, and that solved the problem for now. The card has one other problem: I can't get it to use encryption. This was true in 4.2 as well. I'm posting the mostly for the benefit of others who may run into the problem, but if anyone has suggestions (particularly wrt enabling encryption), I'd love to hear them. I'm going to post a more diagnostically detailed description of the problem to -mobile. - Bob To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-stable" in the body of the message
