Hi,

Probably if you have had a power failure in the server, and at startup
fsck started to fix things, it has sometimes changed the sticky bit in the
/tmp directory or fs (I have /tmp as an independent filesystem), the problem
its that the popper service cant write the lock file in /tmp for access the
users mail, just "chmod 1777 /tmp", and try again.

Have Fun...
Ales

I have freebsd3.3 - I have sendmail enabled and popper enabled - I am able
to telnet to the box and login as a particular user. I can telnet to the
pop3 port and get the appropriate response to the telnet command. I can
ping the mail.name.com all day long and get the correct response. When I
try to check mail I get a password error even though I know I am using the
correct name and password......... I can send mail using the smtp function
fine???

Help!!! I have been beating my head against this problem for days!!

Thanks
Kayla'
