According to IBS / Andre Oppermann: > Grouping doesn't give much performance in this case since less than 5% > (IMO) of the recipcients have the same MX. Sorry, you're wrong. We use the mailertable feature of sendmail to make our own grouping... > You are still in the old UUCP times with your 'one copy to all *.fr > recipients'. I don't think that all *.fr subscribers have the same MX. > You can only do better with sendmail if you send, lets say, 100 messages > to the same MX. Nope, with the mailertable, _everything_ for *.fr goes to the french exploder, MX are not used at all (in truth they're used but only for the exploder itself; see "dig mx mail-relay.fr.freebsd.org"). Its is the exploder's job to use MX and distribute the mail. We have several shortcuts that way on hub for most TLD (.fr, .de, .au, and so on). -- Ollivier ROBERT -=- FreeBSD: The Power to Serve! -=- roberto@keltia.freenix.fr FreeBSD keltia.freenix.fr 3.0-CURRENT #60: Fri May 15 21:04:22 CEST 1998 To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-chat" in the body of the message
