However, I think that there are some NIC drivers in the GENERIC configurati= on that do not seem to be more important than the MLX ones (ixl, ixlv...), so I think that MLX ones could have their place there too. In addition, as it is= a network driver, it is quite important (at installation time for example). However, as you said : 2) it would slow down the boot time a little bit ; 1) it is incompatible with drm (main drawback).
