doesn't seem to be working

/etc/hosts as follows

127.0.0.1            localhost  FreeBSD1.
192.168.0.6          FreeBSD1.

where 192.168.0.6 is the address always assigned by the DCHP server

Edit /etc/hosts and make sure you have an alias "FreeBSD1." for
FreeBSD1
(note the period after the name).  I don't know if this is the
technically
correct fix, but it works.
