Thanks Joe. I tried again, with no success. I then deleted everthing I
could with pkg_delete -rR \*gnome\*, and then pkg_add -r gnome2. Now I
get:

/usr/libexec/ld-elf.so.1: Shared object "libgtk-x11-2.0.so.200" not found

Is it the package? Is it me? Is it my machine? I've never had anything
like this trouble before.
